Langley Green Health Improvement Project: Community Voices for Better Health

The Langley Green Health Improvement Project (HIP) was a pioneering participatory research initiative led by Development Focus in partnership with Crawley Borough Council, local health services, and residents. Engaging more than 600 people, the project explored how communities can identify and address their own health priorities — from diet and physical activity to emotional wellbeing, safety, and access to local services. Using participatory workshops, surveys, mapping, and community forums, the project built local ownership of solutions and informed a long-term action plan for health improvement. The findings helped shape local health strategies, strengthened partnerships, and inspired similar initiatives nationally.
